Set in the heart of the Lake District National Park, just 5 miles from Keswick and in the stunning Newlands Valley, The Newlands Valley Village Hall (locally known as Newlands Institute), has been used for events, parties and socials for well over 60 years. It is now in need of extensive repair and renewal if it is to continue to act as the social hub for the next generation of this thriving rural community.
Despite the Hall being well looked after and cared for by a loyal team of committee members and parishioners, it is an old building that has done the valley proud in the past but now does need bringing up to date and future proofing to ensure its longevity and sustainability.
There is a real danger that the hall might be deemed ‘not fit for purpose’ at some point soon, which will deprive a rural community of its place to meet and socialise. The hall is also used for bunkhouse accommodation, parties, weddings and events but we will only be able to carry on hiring the hall out if the facilities are updated. We can all see the potential of having an environmentally sound and sustainable hall and we hope that you can share our vison and support this project.
We are at the start of this development journey but have a committed team behind us and we are confident we can secure funding and develop a modern, environmentally sound building that will serve not only the local community but open up opportunities for visitors to make the most of what this stunning valley has to offer.
